Lieutenant General Sven-Olof Olson (born 26 November 1926 in Oskarshamn) was the former Chief of the Swedish Air Force. He was trained as a fighter pilot. In 1951 he received the newspaper ''Stockholms-Tidningen'' gold medal after having saved a J 30 Mosquito fighter aircraft from a serious situation. This helped to explain previous accidents and prevent new ones. Later he became head of the Air Force Academy F 20 and Upplands Fighter Wing, F 16, both in the city of Uppsala. He was also for a time head of the attack air wings with its staff in Gothenburg. In 1980-1982 he was the military commander of the Southern Military Area (Kristianstad) in Sweden. He was appointed Chief of the Swedish Air Force on October 1, 1982 and left the command on September 30, 1988. == References ==
